The fabulous 1998 Barolo Falletto del Serralunga reveals intensity and volume. A dark plum color is accompanied by a classic Nebbiolo perfume of rose water, melted tar, truffles, and cherry jam. As the wine sits in the glass, aromas of spice box and cigar smoke also emerge. Full-bodied, dense, and powerfully tannic, yet extremely harmonious, it will be at its finest between 2008-2030.

Saturated ruby-red. Quintessential Barolo perfume of sappy cherry, blackberry, cassis, camphor, maple syrup and spices. Superripe, thick and full; miraculously, this comes across as even sweeter than the Barbaresco Santo Stefano. As dense as a solid yet with no rough edges. The huge fruit reaches all the nooks and crannies of the palate. Complicating animal note. Huge underlying structure and major lush tannins are currently buried in fruit. A potentially monumental Barolo.
