Score 92/100 · Drink 2022-2040, Neal Martin, Mar 2023

The 2011 Haut-Bergeron has a lovely bouquet with white peach, mandarin, honeysuckle and saffron, much more intense and complex than the 2013. The palate is well-balanced with a pure, viscous opening, fine acidity, good concentration and Japanese plum, saffron and a dab of ginger on the finish. Excellent. Tasted at a vertical at the château.

The Haut Bergeron is missing a little intensity on the nose, however, with rigorous coaxing it begins to awaken and offer almond and spice aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a satisfying mellifluous texture, and at last the botrytis is evident. It has a lovely seam of orange zest that cuts through the honeyed fruit, leading to a finish that is very composed and exhibits satisfying length. Drink 2014-2028.
