Score 87/100 · Drink 2012-2016, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Dec 2011

The unoaked 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon sports a pleasing perfume of Asian spices, incense, violets, a hint of balsamic, and cassis. This is followed by a smooth textured, spicy, amply fruited wine with good balance and length. This very good value will provide enjoyment over the next 3-4 years. Vina Los Vascos is owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild. It was purchased in 1988 and was the first French viticultural investment in modern Chile. Bright violet color. Aromas of cherry and cassis offer good, straightforward appeal. Light-bodied, seamless dark fruit flavors could use more heft but show good clarity and a hint of spiciness. Easygoing and uncomplicated, finishing brisk but a tad short.
