Moderately saturated red. Musky aromas of strawberry and truffle, accented by spicy oak. Sweet, plump and voluminous, with a slightly liqueur-like quality to the red fruit and mocha flavors. Plenty of fat here for early pleasure but I wanted a bit more lift. The broad finish features dusty tannins.

Quite subtle hints of violets and mushrooms. Lovely transparency and expression. Though perhaps not for the very long term. GV (JR)
(13.8% alcohol) Palish medium red. Redcurrant, raspberry, smoky oak and exotic spices on the nose, plus some floral high notes. Then sweet, fat and juicy, with plenty of lush fruit and a slight alcoholic warmth. Finishes broad but could use more lift. A second sample from an older barrel: More spice and pepper on the nose. Sweet and expressive in the mouth, with a distinctly high-toned character. This wine will be best for early drinking. Van Canneyt notes that the Murgers is always high in grape sugar, with the fruit verging on jammy.

Founded in 1962 by Alain Hudelot and based in Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is today run by Alain’s grandson Charles van Canneyt and has become one of the region’s most respected estates.
