Good bright medium red. Rather inexpressive nose hints at redcurrant, incense and flowers. Vinous and penetrating but on the lean side, with subdued flavors of redcurrant, leather and white pepper. Appears to lack the flesh and sweetness of the best vintages of this wine.
Deep red-ruby. Dark raspberry, flint and smoked ham on the nose. Round and ripe but not overly sweet. A broad, serious wine with excellent volume and a classical dryness to its dark berry flavors. The ripe tannins reach the teeth. "This is always a very ripe wine," notes Munier, who says the fruit here came in with 13.4% potential alcohol.
Notably dark colour, ripe raisiny plums, even a little porty – and this carries through on the palate. Pretty dry and slightly drying. A bit tough. Will it soften? (JH)
