A sleeper of the vintage and impressive is their cuvee called Larose Perganson, which in 2009 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot. It has the silkiness of its sibling, but is fuller-bodied, with more layers of fruit and glycerin and a heady finish (14.3% alcohol). It is opulent and pure, with loads of cassis, black raspberry and licorice notes backed up with some subtle oak. Drink it over the next decade. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, according to the back label although the Crus Bourgeois tasting booklet also mentions Petit Verdot. This is the posh sister to Larose-Trintaudon from vineyards in Arcins. Healthy crimson. Very sophisticated, swish perfume. Tastes as though an enormous amount of attention has been lavished on this wine. Top-quality oak for a start and really concentrated fruit. Lively and ripe. Great balance. (JR)

Dark purple. A little more restrained than the Larose-Trintaudon 2009 on the nose. Certainly very ripe and a little peppery. Lots of massive ripeness on the palate. Then quite a note of acidity. Quite lifted and aérien. Lots of punch. Ripe tannins. (JR)

Dark crimson with colour right out to the rim. Rather subtle, luscious, extremely refreshing nose. Really rather sophisticated,. Delicate balance without being lightweight. An intricate wine that should give a great deal of pleasure. Really neat. (JR)
