The Winklerberg does not quite seem to match the substance of the Schlossberg, and at this early stage its nose is dominated by some serious toasting. On the palate a full body manages to absorb most of the oak, though a gentle bitter note could be down to a combination of substantial alcohol and barrel ageing. It would be unfair not to mention the ripe green and yellow fruit notes, but they appear a little subdued at the moment. Once again a Grauburgunder with undoubted potential but only limited immediate appeal. (MS)
