Pale green-yellow. Subtle aromas of pear, peach, menthol and white flowers, with good limey lift; very Chassagne! Silky, bright and tactile, with refreshing flavors of citrus peel, white flowers and menthol lifted on the back by a stony element. This energetic premier cru really spreads out on the palate and leaves the mouth feeling refreshed.

Succulent yellow stone fruits, lemon, spices and flowers meld together in a rich, resonant Burgundy of notable depth. The 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumées impresses for its texture and complexity. I expect it will develop nicely for at least the next handful of years, acquiring even more body and oiliness along the way.

(from a 1922 planting): Bright yellow. Musky aromas of yellow fruits and spices. Creamy in texture, with a restrained sweetness to its deep, ripe yellow fruit flavors complicated by flinty, smoky minerality. There's often a blockage of maturity here in the hottest years, noted Michel Coutoux, but the grapes ripened well in 2011 due to well-timed rains. Finishes tactile, chewy and long; just needs a bit more grip. This was 12.9% natural alcohol chaptalized to 13.3%.
