The 2000 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has an open-knit, slightly muddled nose that eventually gains some cohesion: red cherries and pressed flowers. However, the aromatics do not translate the quality of the vineyard. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannin, light red fruit, tart in the mouth but short on the finish. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2000 and 2001 horizontal tasting.

The 2000 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru from Pierre Damoy is fully mature and aging nicely in its late-picked style, offering up an expressive bouquet of espresso roast, plummy fruit and undergrowth. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ripe, multidimensional and structured by fine tannins, its flavors sapid and tertiary but holding up well. If you own any, there's no reason to wait.

Sweet, biscuity appeal on the nose – but not top drawer somehow. Acidity dominates on the palate. Rather austere. (JR)

Plummy red cherries can be found in the aromatic profile of the medium to dark ruby-colored 2001 Chapelle-Chambertin. Light to medium-bodied, it offers cherries and raspberries in its delicate character. Woody tannin makes an appearance in its firm finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Wine Advocate.June, 2003
