The 2001 Barolo Vigna Conca has held up beautifully. Ripe dark berries, flowers, licorice and menthol are some of the noes that flow from this fleshy, generous Barolo. The fruit-forward house style is very much in evidence in this pleasing, juicy Barolo. The 2001 can be enjoyed today or cellared for a few more years although I don't see too much upside from here.

Molino's 2001 Barolo Conca opens with spices, toasted oak and menthol on the nose, followed by intense dark fruit, yet it doesn't quite reach the level of nuance of the best wines here, and shows some heat on the finish.

Good deep red with ruby highlights. Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, clove, nutmeg, mint and cedar. Juicy and sweet but tightly wound, with a more dominant tannic structure today than the Gancia. This offers ethereal fruit and spice notes and a long, slightly resiny finish, but here the tannins come earlier and coat the front teeth.
