Dense bright red. Round and fresh. More forward than most but vigorous. Eerily forward. But a nice package. Minerally. (JR)

An excellent cru bourgeois made from two grapes, 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, this under-$20 wine is a classic. Medium to full-bodied with notes of cedar wood, unsmoked cigar tobacco, and red and black currants, this wine has rich fruit, sweet tannins and an attractive finish. Drink it over the next 5-8 years. A member of the Alliance des Cru Bourgeois du Medoc.

60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark concentrated crimson. Evolved, soft and cool. Low tannins. As though deliberately made to be drunk young. Though there’s an uncomfortable green streak on the finish. (JR)

Mid weight and very Cabernet – almost like a varietal Cabernet! Chewy end. (JR)
