Score 87-88/100 · Drink 2001-2009, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2001

Candle wax, plums, and candied blueberries can be found in the 1999 Chambertin. On the attack and mid-palate, it reveals enticing blackberry, cassis, plum, and cherry fruit that dissipates somewhat quickly in the finish. Medium-bodied and silky-textured, this is a delicious yet short wine that lacks the complexity and depth expected from a grand cru. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. Represented by Russell Herman, Berkeley Heights, NJ; tel. (908) 771-9082.
