Score 89/100 · Drink 1969-2000, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Oct 2024

Opening to a very dry, almost chalky bouquet, the Bertani 1964 Amarone della Valpolicella delivers desiccated mint and oregano, pressed rose, espresso grinds and powdered cinnamon. Those dry sensations are contrasted by a distant hint of sweetness over a compact and firm mid-weight texture. The bouquet is a bit faded, but I'd say this is an impressive bottle with six decades of aging under its cork.
