79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Mouton’s second wine. A little closed though there is some depth here. This is dense and concentrated, with typical cassis fruit complimented by a mineral, graphite edge and a little spice from the oak. Impressive length. This needs more time to come together. There is potential here. FINE+RARE

The 2012 Le Petit Mouton has a lovely, warm and inviting bouquet with red cherries, cranberry, cedar and a light brush of cassis. Lovely purity here. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, fleshy tannins, fine acidity, plush with black plum, allspice and light cedar and mint notes towards the finish. It is exactly what you want from a Deuxième Vin . Tasted twice at Bordeaux Index's Ten Year-On tasting and blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.

Not in the Farr tasting. Lively, healthy, shaded crimson. Really distinctive nose – sweet and rich with more than a hint of Mouton spice and richness. A successful wine for relatively early drinking – at a price. (JR)

Classic grilled cedar and raspberry puree, with the toasted vanilla bean that is such signature Petit Mouton. Fairly high acidities that turn into a whoosh of mouthwatering power. This is skillful and expert winemaking, and it manages a feeling of effortless pleasure with careful architecture and muscular tannins. Gorgeous 2nd wine, a standout in the line up, ready to drink with a carafe, still plump and seductive. The character of the vintage suits Petit Mouton.
