2011 Le Petit Mouton

Tasting notes
Petit Mouton can often have a rather sweaty, Petit Verdot quality to it but this year it looks much more like a Mouton family member. Bright and floral blackcurrant nose with a soft supple palate awash with bright acids. Naturally a bit of Petit Verdit sweat manages to creep in at the end but not bad.

The wine shows a pretty richness and softness with plenty of blueberry and chocolate character. Medium finish. Very soft. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Second wine of first growth Mouton-Rothschild. jamessuckling.com
Stunning black fruits nose both firm (Cabernet) and seductive (Merlot), good structure over the lush fruit. Drink 2014-2025. Decanter.com
A supple red, with charming cherry and plum perfume notes. There's good focus to the cassis and blackberry fruit, which is backed by a stylish finish. Tasted non-blind. James Molesworth, WineSpectator.com
