Tasting notes
Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Amiral de Beychevelle opens with fragrant notions of preserved blackberries, blackcurrant cordial and Black Forest cake with touches of Chinese five spice, menthol, new leather and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals a taut, chewy frame with bags of earth-laced fruit and a spicy finish.

Blueberries and currants, with hints of black truffles on the nose. Full body, with super integrated tannins and polished texture. So fine. Beautiful second wine of Beychevelle. Try after 2018. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
About the producer

With greater care in the vineyard and more precision in the winery, Ch. Beychevelle's star is rising. That's in large part due to the leadership of Philippe Blanc and investment by current owners, Japanese brewers Suntory and French wine group Castel.
