Tasting notes
The 1996 Tokaji Nyulászó 6-Puttonyos has a lifted bouquet of dried honey, quince and a light marine influence that later becomes more nutty, suggesting grilled walnut and hazelnut. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, and almost as refined as the Betsek, although perhaps without quite the same level of sophistication, though you have to admire the purity here. Lingers long in the mouth, finishing with Seville orange marmalade and dried apricot. Lovely. Tasted at the Royal Tokaji Company tasting in London.

RS 164 g/l, TA 10.8 g/l. First growth. Lovely pipe-smoke aroma and wonderful pear-fruit freshness. Truly complex and individual. Bags of personality. Engaging, flamboyant and incredibly interesting. Extraordinary length with burnt sugar and caramel. (RH)
