Appetising nose and some raciness. Not the most concentrated wine but a good drink in unambitious mode. (JR)

A beautiful effort from Alain Vauthier, the 2001 Moulin St.-Georges is performing better from bottle than it did from cask. Almost as good as the 2000, it boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as a style reminiscent of its renowned sibling, Ausone. Aromas of minerals, acacia flowers, and black raspberries are found in this well-delineated, medium-bodied offering. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years.

Ruby-red. Crystallized berries, smoke and tobacco on the nose. Sweet, supple and sexy on the palate, with crushed berry flavors spreading out to coat the palate on the back half. Delicious.

Very, very deep purple, but a thick blackberry scent. Something very exotic about it on the nose, though lots of oak. Thick. Almost painful. A bit pastiche-like. (JR)
