Score 91/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2005

(from a bottle opened at the domaine). There is just a hint of bricking on the rim but otherwise the color remains deep ruby at the core. The expressively and attractively complex nose has now turned almost completely secondary with a lovely array of dried flowers, spice, tea and a hint of anise. There is both fine vibrancy and richness to the surprisingly supple and forward middle weight flavors that exhibit an appealing minerality on the dusty finish that is cut ever-so-slightly short by a touch of acid tang. While I generally like how this has evolved it would be fair to observe that the balance isn't perfect. That said, there is still plenty to like and I would suggest serving this with an appropriate dish to mute the acidity-tinged finish.
