From a far from propitious vintage, the 1963 Richebourg Grand Cru is a very pleasant surprise, offering up an attractive bouquet of plummy fruit mingled with potpourri and exotic spices, followed by a medium-bodied, ample and velvety palate. The domaine's top terroirs, high-quality vine genetics and propensity for harvesting late seem to have delivered a success in a year that is most often best forgotten.
