The 2005 La Dame de Montrose is a brooding, rustic Saint-Estèphe. Mid-weight structure suggests a more elegant wine, but the 2005 is marked by strong gamy, animal notes that make it feel rather burly. There is enough depth to support at least a few more years in bottle, but I don't see this improving.
The 2005 La Dame de Montrose is a gorgeous second wine. Dark ruby/purple, with sweet black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, soft tannins, and a round, generous, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, it is an excellent, soft wine to drink over the next 15 or so years.

Ch. Montrose is one of two Second Growths from Saint-Estèphe and one of the most consistent producers in Bordeaux. The wines from this property are both elegant and powerful, and some of the Médoc's most age-worthy .
