(13.7% alcohol, the highest of these 2004s) Good full red. Nuanced nose melds dark cherry, meat, licorice, faded rose and earth. Silky-sweet and thick for the vintage, with lovely mineral cut to the raspberry and rose petal flavors. Finishes long, subtle and stony, with a captivating juicy character. But this firmly structured wine is quite youthfully closed, even a bit tough, today and its substantial dusty tannins call for a good six to eight years of bottle aging.

Good full, bright red. Knockout nose combines wild red berries and game. Dry but rich, with densely packed, penetrating, sappy flavors of wild fruits, crushed stone and minerals. This boasts very good fat and yet there's an impression of lightness and verve. The round tannins here resemble those of the Amoureuses. Very long and floral on the back, with no bitterness showing. This will reward seven or eight years of cellaring.
