Looks already mature. Very cheesy nose. Lots of acidity – and good intentions – here. There is integrity and this is probably a faithful rendition of traditional Cornas but I fear for anyone approaching it for the first time. They will find it awfully dry compared to most modern reds…. I have marked it for traditionalists. Modernists should not even approach it (JR)

NOTE: This wine is from the estate vineyard of Ann and Jean-Luc Colombo. The 1998 Cornas La Louvee is a prodigious effort. A black/purple color is accompanied by a sweet nose of minerals, roasted nuts, scorched earth, black currants, and berry fruit. This full-bodied, fleshy, impressively-endowed effort offers sweet tannin as well as low acidity. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016. Importer: Premiere Wine Merchants, New York, NY; tel. (212) 399-4200
