Medium red. Complex aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, incense, spices and black tea. Silky, dry and broad, with good lift and a hint of sweet oak to the red berry and Oriental spice flavors. Finishes sappy and youthfully tight, with a fine dusting of tannins and lingering sweetness.

Moderately saturated medium red. Sexy perfume of redcurrant, iron and faded rose. Tightly wound and classically dry, with insinuating intensity to the flavors of redcurrant, iron and tobacco. This juicy, very backward wine is showing no easy sweetness today. In fact, I find it a bit dry. This will need another look following the bottling.
This is a very ripe 2011 with its array of fresh red pinot fruit, plum, cassis and stone aromas. There is reasonably good verve to the well-detailed and soil-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess controlled power on the balanced and impressively long finish that evidences a touch of youthful austerity. The supporting tannins are fine-grained and an apt description would be that this is a Rugiens of relative refinement. Tasted: Apr 15, 2014. Drink: 2021+
