Score 88-89/100 · Drink 2006-2012, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2003

I have no doubts that Lardiere's elevage magic will ultimately render Jadot's 2001 Montrachet better than what I tasted in January, 2003. Its smoky, mineral-laced nose leads to a tightly wound, juicy, lemon-laced, tight personality. It displays admirable depth, appealing breadth on the attack, and a noble, persistent finish. Projected maturity: 2006-2012+. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

cask sample. Less transparent than the Bâtard-Montrachet. Hardly any nose. Green notes. Herbal. Duller than the Bâtard, actually. Big weight, but a slight lack of tension. Long, though! (JR)
