1983 Le Montrachet

this wine apparently had a stuck fermentation and spent more than 3 years in barrel before being bottled. the '83 Montrachet was never commercially released to the usual channels though it was supposedly sold to restaurant clients). A brown/orange color at the rim. There is touch of oxidation on the fully mature, even slightly post-mature nose that introduces supple, intense and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that still possess plenty of energy though the finish is somewhat drying if not aggressively so. To be sure, this is particular relative to the usual Lafon style but that doesn't mean that it is without a certain appeal Allen Meadows-Burghound-18/11/08
