Score 95+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2007

Deep aromas of menthol, rocks, white truffle and iodine. Superrich and mouthfilling; as tactile as a solid, and like a red wine in texture. This begins quite linear, then expands impressively on the back half, and finishes with superb building length, texture and grip. Uncompromisingly dry Montrachet with a near-perfect balance between its strong material and fresh acidity.

Oaky aromas of clove and menthol. Large-scaled, oaky and ripe, with an almost candied character. And yet this solid, powerful, extremely young wine conveys an impression of great verve and elegance. Finishes very long and subtle, with nothing heavy about it. Even after Boudot racks this wine into stainless steel cuve, he'll keep some of the fine lees. The 2005 grand crus are likely to be bottled as late as next March. (I did not sample the Chevalier-Montrachet, as it was aging in another cellar.)
