Score 90/100 · Drink 2001-2015, Robert Parker, Aug 1999

The 1995 Barolo Bricco Rocche is concentrated and massive. It offers a classic nose of melted tar, Asian spice, incense, and cedar, as well as gobs of black fruits, a whiff of high quality tobacco, full body, and a layered, moderately tannic finish. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2015. Importer: Veuve Clicquot, New York, NY; tel. (212) 888-7575

Similar red color. Very expressive, very Barolo aromas of cherry, tar and chestnut. Sweet and densely packed but very firm and stubbornly backward; with aeration, this showed complex, fresh flavors of cherry, raspberry and smoke. The strong tannins are nicely integrated. A rather powerful '95 that should show more personality with four or five years of additional bottle aging.
