Bright red-ruby. Wild strawberry, raspberry, Oriental spices, mocha and chocolate on the nose. Silky, lush and sweet, with deeper notes of truffle and earth. Shows less vibrancy and tannic spine than the Vaucrains but this is fat with fruit, more generous today, and broad, sweet and long on the back end. Incidentally, both of these wines showed better in bottle than they did when I sampled them from barrel a year ago.

Medium red. Vibrant aromas of framboise, minerals and flowers. Firmly built and spicy, if a bit hard today owing to the gas. Not a fleshy style. Finishes with some drying wood tannins.
