Score 88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2005
Medium ruby. Sappy, brooding, granitic aromas of gunflint, black pepper, minerals, leather and smoked meat. Quite dry but richer and suppler than the 2001 Crozes, with more density and complexity. Penetrating flavors of black pepper and flint. Minerally, structured young wine, but not yet expressing itself.

The 2001 St.-Joseph offers beautiful aromas of cherries and earth in a racy, elegant, medium-bodied style with excellent purity, fruit, and a notion of wood. Importer: Fred Ek and Patrick Will, Ex Cellars Wine Agencies, Solvang, CA; tel. (805) 686-9153
