Score 90/100 · Drink 2004-2010, Robert Parker, Jun 2004

Along with Francois Mitjavile’s Roc de Cambes, this is one of the finest wines of the Cotes de Bourg. A sleeper of the vintage, it is a worthy successor to the wonderful 2000. The deep ruby/purple-colored 2001 offers an enthralling bouquet of melted fudge, roasted coffee, black cherry jam, earth, and spice. Beautifully textured, heady, rich, and hedonistic, it is a delicious Cotes de Bourg to drink over the next 5-6 years.
