Score 85/100 · Drink 1988, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

This is one of my favorite Haut-Batailleys between 1971 and 1981. Silky on the palate and quite perfumed, with a pronounced oaky bouquet, this velvety, round, pleasant wine is quite delicious. It has matured rapidly. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 2/88.

Haut Batailley

The Cazes family – owners of Lynch-Bages and Ormes de Pez – purchased Haut-Batailley in 2017. They’ve embarked on a significant replanting programme, and exciting things are likely to come from this address with its new backing.
