Herbal and earthy, with a hint of tobacco smoke, this solidly made wine has a relatively high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon for a St.-Estephe – 70% – with the rest mostly Merlot. It offers up notes of unsmoked cigar tobacco, new saddle leather, red and black currants, and forest floor. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. A member of the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Medoc.

25% Merlot, 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Deep crimson. Marked herbaceous aroma and flavour. Fresh and attractive in a leafy style but without drying tannins. Lively and bright. (JH)
