Tasting notes
3,000 litres produced. Quite developed and 'ready to drink' according to its maker. Lovely broad. sweet, easy, friendly, fruity even if not that complex. (JR)

Resembling an alluringly scented honeydew melon, nectarine, and lime sorbet, the lusciously sweet 2009 Serriger Schloss Saarstein Riesling Auslese practically hovers over – while at the same time caressing – the palate, leaving a lingering sense of slight oiliness, along with infectious, cooling, soothing fruit essences. It should be worth following for at least 25 years. Christian and Andrea Ebert are surely justified in their satisfaction with 2009, although their results vary considerably in instances from wine to wine where the wild cards of botrytis and frost were brought into play. The nose gives away very little, but the impact on the palate reveals great potential. Very juicy, it spans the range from ripe local fruit to tangerines and hits an excellent balance between sweetness and acidity. (MS)
