2011 Gevrey Chambertin Petite Chapelle

This is even more elegant, cool and aromatically refined with its essence of red pinot fruit with really pretty whispers of wet stone and rose petal that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is excellent detail and punch to the mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess fine depth and even better length on the moderately austere finish and mildly dry finish though here it seems more certain that it will round out in time. Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 2011 has a slightly grassy bouquet with light red cherry and bergamot scents. The palate is angular with noticeable acidity on the entry, adorned with tart cherry fruit and a terse finish that gains length in the glass.
