Tasting Notes
This is a good value Bordeaux, sold under 25 Euros made by the Gerard Perse winemaking team at Chateau Pavie. Very generous and rich but bordering on over-extraction. Lovers of dense big styles will appreciate this style but I feel the wine would be better if it was less thick and chunky. asianpalate.com

Gérard Perse selection. Very deep crimson. Intense yet lively. Thick and sweet – quite a different build from most wines. Bit tough on the end. Lacks a bit of fluidity but certainly very ambitious. Cool on the finish, but long. Tasted 6 Apr: Very sweet on the nose. Super flattering with a little medicinal undertow. Quite inky on the finish but there is certainly a lot packed in here. jancisrobinson.com
One of the bigger, more tannic and powerful wines of the vintage, although it is only 14.4% alcohol, which puts it well below some of the blockbusters in the Cotes de Castillon, this wine exhibits wonderfully pure black raspberry, black cherry and graphite notes intermixed with hints of cedar and licorice, in a medium to full-bodied, slightly softer and less extracted style than usual. This is another sleeper of the vintage that should drink nicely for up to a decade. Feb 2013, www.robertparker.com
A blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the bouquet is a little flat at the moment: dark berried, a touch of Xmas cake and fig. The palate is full-bodied with dense tannins, very dry towards the finish that needs more tension. More winemaking than wine at the moment, but hopefully it will coalesce by bottling.
