Tasting notes
The 2005 Filhot has an odd, rather incongruous kerosene scent on the nose that detracts from the honeyed fruit. The palate is better with quince and lime on the entry, honeyed in texture yet beginning to show some unwanted dryness towards the finish. I would be inclined to drink this sooner rather than later. Tasted at the vertical tasting at Château Filhot.

Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Filhot has a simple pineapple and wax resin bouquet that needs just a little more precision. The palate is nicely balanced and straightforward, the acidity nicely judged, though just a tad conservative toward the finish. It represents a decent Sauternes that goes about its job with the minimum of fuss.
Rather a heavy nose and very rich but with some savoury undertow and interest. Very long. (JR)
Bright medium yellow. Mirabelle, marzipan, cherry-almond and vanilla on the nose. Spice and marzipan flavors show good definition and some power, but the underlying fruits are currently in the background. Finishes with some richness but only moderate length.
