Score 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2011

Pale greenish-straw color. Complex but reticent nose hints at lemon oil and flowers. Dense and fruity, offering a sweeter impression than the foregoing samples. A somewhat larger-scaled wine from a hotter spot, and in a more typical style (Boudot calls it a "summer" style) for the year.

The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Hameau de Blagny emerges from a parcel of 60 year-old vines. It possesses gorgeus textural richness and depth in its plush fruit. This is a relatively masculine, powerful wine from Sauzet that emphasizes fruit over minerality. The plush, deep finish invites a second taste. Despite the wine's richness this remains a relatively mid-weight, refined Burgundy.

This is a relatively masculine, powerful wine from Sauzet that emphasizes fruit over minerality. The plush, deep finish invites a second taste. Despite the wine’s richness this remains a relatively mid-weight, refined Burgundy. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. This is a beautiful set of wines from Etienne Sauzet. Proprietor Gerard Boudot emphasized the importance of keeping yields low and picking early. The harvest began on September 7. Boudot did a very light batonnage, and the wines saw approximately 20% new oak. The 2009s were bottled beginning in August 2010, but the premier and grand crus weren’t bottled until March 2011.
