Bright ruby-red. Primary aromas of blackberry, cassis, mocha and minerals. Sweet and supple on entry, then rather stylish in the middle, with blackberry and violet flavors offering good lift. Finishes with sweet tannins. This two-hectare vineyard lies just outside the Margaux boundary.
A well-made offering from just outside the Margaux appellation, Clos du Jaugueyron’s 2005 from the Haut-Medoc (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) possesses sweet fruit, a pretty, finesse-filled, elegant style, and a dark ruby/purple color. Since it does not reveal the vintage’s typical massive, muscular personality, it should drink well young, and evolve for 7-8 years.
