One of the best-known of the crus bourgeois of the Médoc (from a large estate that has been well-represented in the United States for over 30 years), this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot supplies the generosity, richness, and consumer-friendly ripeness and headiness that this château has offered for many, many years. The 2012 is attractive, cleanly made, with a touch of wood, nice blackcurrant fruit, a plump, round, generous mouthfeel and a supple finish. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage.

Punchy, sweet red fruit on the palate. Very dry structure, with a pretty astringent finish. Deserves a bit of time to settle – though doesn't have the concentration for very long age. (RH)

Mid to dark crimson. Warm, almost stewed nose. Very easy and comfortable without great intensity. Bone dry but not an excessively drying finish. Correct rather than thrilling. Not mean nor too skinny. (JR)
