What a surprise! This wine normally begs for consumption within 2-3 years of its release, but the 2003 reveals how some of these low-level, inexpensive reds can age. Pretty, with copious black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with floral and sandalwood notes, it is drinking beautifully at present, and should continue to do so for 1-2 more years.

Deep purple. Very little nose. Chewy throughout. Could do with just a tad more acidity to make it racy. (JR)

(60% merlot, 34% cabernet sauvignon and 6% cabernet franc) Bright ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of crystallized black raspberry and dark chocolate. Fat, dense and sweet, with slightly medicinal flavors of blackberry and currant. A modern-style if somewhat chunky wine, finishing with chewy, building tannins. Ultimately rather soft, no doubt owing to its high merlot content.
