(Javillier owns a 1.5-hectare parcel that stretches from the bottom to the top of this hillside; this was 12.2% potential alcohol chaptalized to 13%): Bright straw-yellow. Complex aromas of peach, smoke and menthol. Nicely ripe but dry, with sneaky glyceral depth to the flavors of peach, hazelnut and flowers complicated by white pepper and herbs. Good minerality at the core. Finishes with subtle lift and verve. Javillier uses very little new oak for this cuvee because it would dominate the fruit from the clay portion of the vineyard early on.

Lively fruit, ripe and bright. A little bit of reductive matchstick scent adds interest. (RH)

Calcaire so he uses new oak. You can't taste the oak but it is very focused and angular. A little less frank and crystalline than the Roulot Tillets but still a very fine, solid wine. Angular finish and some good concentration. (JR)

(30% new oak): Bright yellow. Subtle, slightly reduced aromas and flavors of lemon oil, ginger and hazelnut. Rich, pure and tactile, with attractive spice oil lift to the middle palate. Less minerally today than the 2010 but boasts lovely perfume. The palate-stimulating finish is graceful, spicy and long, with some dusty stone emerging with air. Javillier believes that this wine will ultimately reveal the minerality of the 2010.
