Score 84/100 · Drink 2017-2021, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, May 2017

The 1979 Musigny Grand Cru from Remoissenet comes from what you might call the old regime (as my recent reports have indicated, the quality is far improved nowadays under Bernard Replot). Old bottles can be good, but I felt this was more interesting than pleasurable. It had a dusty, antique bureau-scented bouquet that lacks fruit and certainly lacked the complexity of the 1979 Musigny from Jacques Prieur at the same sitting. The palate is medium-bodied, still with some freshness, but monotone and lacking breeding on the chlorine-tinged finish. Tasted March 2017.
