The Bonnes Mares tasted vastly superior to the elegant but polite, understated Musigny. Perhaps the latter wine was overwhelmed by the sheer power and decadent level of fruit extract in the Bonnes Mares. Jadot's 1985s are loaded with aromas and flavors of red fruits, are judiciously complemented by one-third new oak barrels, and have super color, thanks in part to a very high fermentation temperature of 35°-36° C.
