From the Coches’ cellar where it has been since 2001 on the morning of the tasting. Jean-François says the Chevalières lasts longer than Rougeots, and in the case of the 1999 it seems to be true. Younger on the nose than the Rougeots 1999. Both Chevalières are more chewy than the Rougeots. A bit less concentrated but tighter than the Rougeots but more astringent. Floral. Green and lively. Fresh minerals and ripe pears are found in the nose of the 1999 Meursault Les Chevalieres. This medium-bodied, satin-textured wine coats the palate with minerals, smoke, toast, anise, and tangy spiced apples. It is concentrated, lush, and extremely flavorful.
