Tasting notes
As with the red, the white 2008 Château Smith-Haut-Lafitte Blanc is still going strong. Notes of yellow fruits, orange blossom, dried herbs, and beautiful minerality all emerge from this youthful, balanced, vibrant white. Made from a mix of 90% Sauvignon and 5% each of Sauvignon Gris and Semillon, I love it today, and while I don’t expect it to get better, it’s going to continue drinking fabulous well for over a decade.

A beautiful honeyed nose offers buttered citrus, subtle earth and smoke and rich melon-like aromas. This is a round, generously endowed dry white capable of lasting a decade or more.

About the producer

Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte is one of the leading lights of Pessac-Léognan today – all thanks to Daniel and Florence Cathiard, who took over the property in 1990 and have since transformed the estate, converting to biodynamics and crafting wines of increasing finesse.
