Score 78-80/100 · Drink 2003-2007, Robert Parker, Jun 2003
Stephan’s 2001 Cote Rotie reveals a medium ruby color, vegetal, austere characteristics, high tannin, and a lean, emaciated personality lacking fruit and substance. This wine is best consumed during its first 3-4 years of life. Importer: Vineyard Expressions, Ithaca, NY; tel. (607) 272-0231

(aging in two- to ten-year-old barrels) Medium red. Subdued aromas of red fruits (raspberry, strawberry), with a hint of peppery herbaceousness. Juicy and on the lean side, with a peppery flavor and only modest ripeness. A correct, fresh wine that could use more sweetness and nuance.
