Score 87/100 · Drink 2003-2009, Robert Parker, Jun 2003
The deep ruby-colored 2000 Cote Rotie exhibits a bouquet of toasty oak intermixed with ground pepper, raspberries, cherries, and a notion of underbrush. Medium-bodied and soft, it is best consumed over the next 5-6 years. After Gaillard’s brilliant array of 1999s, there is a natural tendency to be disappointed with his 2000s. Nevertheless, these two cuvees are well-made, particularly for a year that produced excessive yields. Importer: David Hinkle, North Berkeley Imports, Oakland, CA; tel. (510) 336-9880
