The 1995 Côte-Rôtie has a stunning nose with light iris flower and eucalyptus scents, hints of graphite emerging with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry, sorbet-fresh, segueing into a compelling yet quite linear finish. This is a fine-boned Côte-Rôtie that perhaps does not quite possess the bravura finish of a top-flight Jamet. I might afford it more time in the cellar, despite its age.

Very fine and dry and looked much older than the Rostaing Côte Blonde served blind alongside. More typical Côte Rôtie... (JR)

Two stellar performances from the Jamet brothers, both the 1996 and 1995 are impressively-endowed, rich, highly-extracted yet beautifully harmonious examples of Cote Rotie. The spectacular 1995 Cote Rotie reveals an even more opaque purple color than the 1996. The wine exhibits fabulous concentration, massive body, and a finish that lasts for nearly 30 seconds. At present, it is more impressive for its potential than its current drinkability. The juicy, smoky Syrah character is well-displayed in the tar, licorice, cassis-scented nose. Thick, viscous, highly-extracted flavors are pure and mouth-coating. This large-scaled Cote Rotie will be at its apogee between 2002-2018. These are two impressive efforts!
