Pale crimson – looks quite young. Very ripe and opulent on the nose. Lots of sweetness and opulence but the acidity really bites over time. Just a bit of TCA evident on the finish. Shame. I'm marking it as though it was 100% clean on the palate. A bit mean. (JR)
Dark crimson. Sweet, rich evolved nose. Then a little rigid and unevolved on the palate. Curious mix! Perhaps it needs time. Drying finish. Very youthful. (JR)
Very subtle and toasty on the nose. Hint of exotic spice. Lovely texture and balance but still a little austere. Well done but a great demonstration of the vintage’s shortcomings. Dry on the finish. Very good for the vintage. (JR)
About the producer
Château la Conseillante was built in 1750 and named after the proprietor, Libourne business woman Catherine Conseillan. The reputation of the wines quickly grew and her wines became some of the most expensive in the region.
